One major improvement for engagement that Threads made over Twitter is to only display the follower count, not the following count, on user profiles.

On Twitter, it’s a status game to maintain a high ratio of followers to following and you’re incentivized to follow a small number of accounts.

On Threads, there’s practically no status penalty for following others, which means following others becomes a friendlier action, leading to a denser social graph and increased engagement.
