Admire the distance, not the destination

A fundamentally misguided behavior in our society is to focus predominantly on praising the level of success without paying much attention to the length of the path taken.

When admiring how far someone got, the starting point matters much more than the finish line.

Quick success is intriguing but long-term journeys are admirable.
